Cliff Notes on Calamity

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remmber how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain, when you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what the storm is about” Haruki Murakabnu

My friend Sally sang me songs from Joni Mitchell until I stopped crying

“Don’t interrupt the sorrow

Darn right

In flames our prophet witches

Be polite

A roomful of glasses

He says “Your notches, liberation doll”

And he chains me with that serpent

To that Ethiopian wall” Joni Mitchell

That Man

Ten years ago when my heart was broken

this man appeared and I was under a spell

Feeling “in love” is something I can conjure

a person does not have to be the object

This is a wonderful discovery, love without

expectations or an outcome. Now I may be

able to tell when it is truer than other times

He appeared and I felt nothing at all. Nothing.
